The Christian religion must be the basis of any government

“In my view, the Christian religion is the most important and one of the first things in which all children, under a free government ought to be instructed…No truth is more evident to my mind than that the Christian religion must be the basis of any government intended to secure the rights and privileges of a free people.”

  1. America was not founded on Christian princples.
The Constitution forms a clear secular document, and nowhere does it appeal to God, Christianity, Jesus, or any other deity.

    I Quote:
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”

    • Big difference between establishing a religion vs founding fathers being Christian. The Founders didn’t want the GOVERNMENT to establish a religion and allow people to believe as they would like. But that doesn’t negate that our founders, for the most part, were God fearing men.

The quotes I supplied were from our founders themselves, not anything made up
